My Darling YOU! – Everything, Alright!?
This was one of the top five songs on the list I published yesterday, which obviously means I’m quite found of it. Actually it’s not that extraordinary, the length of it is only 1:25, and everything about it is just quite simply, but that is why I like it. It might be short, but it’s an intense catchy pop song, with joyful lyrics and interesting vocals – brilliant stuff! I don’t know much about My Darling YOU!, mainly because their crappy website isn’t very informative. But the songs I’ve heard by them are excellent so I’m anxious to hear more!

Please Don’t Talk To Me I Fall In Love So Easily – weird lyrics, but I love weird, so. But seriously, what’s up with killing your friends because you hate love? Weird, weird.
The Sounds – Don’t Want To Hurt You The new Sounds-LP isn’t as good as the last one, but it includes a couple of good songs. It’s half indie rock and half electro rock, and since I’m a sucker for electric sounds, I naturally fell for the electro-songs. “Don’t Want To Hurt You” is one of them, and as a change they’ve let one of the guys sing on it. The result is great - they should let him sing more! It sounds a bit like The Tough Alliance would if they did rock.
CTOS Classic: Drain STH – Simon Says (1999)
When you play this you’ll probably think what the hell we were thinking posting a bloody goth rock song, but you can relax, it’s actually a really quite good one. Here are some reasons to love it: 1) It’s written by Max Martin. 2) They were witches, or at least seemed to be. 3) It’s written by Max Martin. 4) It sounds a lot like Nu Pagadi, which is a good thing. 5) Between the verses there’s a guy saying “throw your hands in the air, and twinkle them around like you just don’t care”, and that’s quite pop, is it not? 6) The chorus is really good. 7) They were
really ugly. 8) Did we mention it’s written by Max Martin? We did? Ah, alright. Well that should be reason enough for you to like it. Especially since it was released back in 1999 when Martin was at his “brilliance peak”.
SwePop 2006 (pt. one of four)
Since I’m a big fan of lists in general, and since it’s quite fun to make rip-offs from
other websites, I’ve decided to count down the greatest Swedish pop songs of 2006 this far. Keep in mind I haven’t listened properly to Velvet’s, Linda Bengtzing’s and Whyte Seed’s albums yet, so there’s a chance I might’ve missed some masterpieces from them.
It’s the end of March, which means one fourth of 2006 has passed. You can expect another list of this kind to appear when half the year is through, which, if I got the information right, should be sometime this summer.

…or so went a brilliant song I recently downloaded. With a group called Cansei de Ser Sexy I believe. But nevermind that. Today it’s time to get dirty here on CTOS! Even though I sort of think that sexism only belongs in the American music market I guess a couple of euro-exceptions are okay. I’m sorry if this post will make you run away from this site and never come back, but here we go…
Bimbo Boy – Make You Come
Like I’ve said before Bimbo Boy is the gayest artist of all time. So what’s better for him than to do a song about a blowjob? About working full time baby with his magical tongue? The production is very 80’s, with lots of synths and handclaps. Bimbo’s voice remind me a lot of Andreas Lundstedt, which makes me realise that this song isn’t far away from Alcazar, at all. Thanks to Martin for ripping this song!
Byz – Do You Wanna F***? It might be because my humour is quite immature, or because despite the naughty lyrics and the rapping it’s really rather catchy, or just because my friends have brainwashed me, but I like this! According to my friend it is a parody of the sexism of the music in the United States, done in comedy euro-rap style (but the song sounds a bit too “serious” for my friend to be right, doesn’t it?). You’ll probably hate it, but hey, it’s my blog so I’ll post whatever I want on it. Byz is an underground rapper who’s released three lp’s. But the rest of his songs are crap, so don’t check them out. Warning: if you’re sensitive you might be offended by the lyrics… or you probably will.
CTOS Classic: Spånka NKPG feat. Malin Bayard – Do You Wanna Ride? (2004) Fasten your seat belts and get ready for a lesson in everything you need to know about riding a horse. Or at least some nonsense about it. Spånka NKPG are a house act which has existed since 2000. They’ve released a couple of good songs, plus lots of remixes. Malin Bayard is probably the most well known horsewoman in Sweden, though her pop carrier is as long as this song. I love how she pronounces “scccchtyle”, and the line “Horse is my fetish”. I apologise for the guitar solo in the end of the song, I couldn’t find the proper album version anywhere.

Dilba - Diamonds & MotorcarsI see Chris posted another song by Dilba a couple of posts ago. This is yet another great song by her, perhaps even better. The lyrics basically say no diamonds, champagne or motorcars will impress her. What a girl! And I thought diamonds was a girl's best friend!Sanna Nielsen - Rör Vid Min SjälGod knows how many covers of "You Raise Me Up" there is today. And everyone thinks Josh Groban did the original. HA! This is one in Swedish for you all. It's from Sanna's latest album. I think it's extremely beautiful!Lisa Nilsson - Långsamt FarvälSecond ballad today. I want you all to give this a chance although it's in Swedish. It's one my all time favourite Swedish songs. Velvet - Doin' It"Doin' It" is taken from Velvet's debut-album "Finally"(suitable title), and it's one of the best tracks too. Some of you might have heard this before. It was released back in 2004 by a Fame Factory-contestant named Pauline. It peaked at #3.

Le Sport – It’s Not The End Of The WorldOoh, it’s the new Le Sport single. But with slightly more pling-plings (yay!), an even
poppier production (yay!!) and ridiculous lyrics about loving someone’s shoes (yay!!!). I love it! Their upcoming debut album, called “Euro Deluxe Dance Party”, will be released in the beginning of April and includes the greatest song title OF ALL TIME. You might want to sit down for this; it’s called ‘If Neil Tennant Was My Lover’. How brilliant isn’t that!? I’m sure the Le Sport-album will be the greatest album of the year so far once it's released, but until then this will do just fine.
Sandy Mouche – In The Sand A fair warning to you all; do not download this song. It’s so extremely catchy it will ruin your life! I can’t stop listening to it, when I’m not it’s always playing over and over in my head, and when I’m at school I’m constantly longing to get home so that I can listen to it again. Seriously; this song is cursed! I repeat: Do! Not! Download! It! Don’t let it get to you! I’m posting this because it’s MAKING ME!

CTOS Classic: Lisa Miskovsky – Sing To Me (2004) Now something slow in contrast to my slightly over-energetic writing above. Lisa entered the music scene back in 2001 as a rock chick, and I really liked her debut album released the same year. In 2003, however, the rock chick disappeared and arrived had a new mature singer/songwriter, with an album she had recorded along with Jocke Berg, the singer of Swedish rockgroup Kent. The album was dull, but she released some good singles. ‘Sing To Me’ was the second one, and I didn’t quite like it when it was released, but discovered its brilliance when I heard her sing it on one of her concerts.

Waiting for the sound to clear our minds
Da Buzz – The Echo This is an expensive week for me. Dub Sweden, Linda Bengtzing and Da Buzz all have new albums out, and then of course the Melodifestivalen complication! The one I prioritised most was the Da Buzz-album though, so that’s the only one I’ve bought this far. If you’ve heard any of their earlier albums you know exactly how this one sounds too, they haven’t changed much. Joyful pop-dance music with simple love-lyrics. It’s not quite up there with the brilliance of September’s latest album, but is still really quite good. My favourite song after the first listen was ‘The Echo’, which pisses over the title track ‘Last Goodbye’. Seriously, how come they chose that one over this? It has to be a single in the future.

Emilia De Poret – Everywhere
If you’re an
Into The Groove regular you probably caught the great song ‘Mistreat Me (You’ll Be Sorry)’ by Lia Andreen. Well, Emilia De Poret is the same person, but is nowadays releasing under her real name. I bought her latest album a few weeks ago after having a friend going all mental over it. It wasn’t really my cup of tea, but I fell for this nice little ballad. It’s one of those songs you’d like to fall asleep to in the hammock in the summer, or have on your mp3-player when you go fishing. The lyrics are very philosophic, including the lines “close your eyes and see, the side of wild horses running free”, “when it seems like your dreams got to light dust in the air, reach for me” and “it’s the rising of the sun across the sky”.
CTOS Classic: Dilba – Every Little Thing (2002)Ah. How I love Dilba. She performed at the very first concert I went to, and has released some of the greatest mid-tempos of the last decade, and ‘Every Little Thing’ is basically one of them. I’m in a hurry at the moment so I can’t write more on her now, but I’m sure she’ll be featured on here more times. Or if you want to do some research yourself, why not look her up on

Sebastian Karlsson – Indifferent
I hated ‘Do What You’re Told’, the debut single from Sebastian, who came second in the second season of Swedish Idol. Yet I had faith in Sebastian to make a good album since he is quite an ace popstar. I was only half right, the album includes a handful of good songs, ‘Indifferent’ being one of them. It reminds me a lot of ‘Calleth You, Cometh I’ by The Ark, with the bells and catchy chorus. It’s actually produced by the same guy who produces The Ark, and on top of that Sebastian’s voice is quite similar to Ola Salo’s. You’ll like this, guys, believe me. If not, then just pretend it’s The Ark and you will!
Firefox AK – City To CityNew ace electro-act alert! New ace electro-act alert! I actually don’t know much about Firefox AK at all, since she haven’t “properly launched” yet, but since I’m going to a festival next weekend where she is playing I downloaded a couple of songs by her, and to my surprise they were great. ‘City To City’ is an infectious pop song with a fabulous production and wonderful vocals, and will be loved by all electro junkies out there! Her album got great reviews, and one in particular I remember describing it as "what Belle & Sebastian would sound like if they were produced by The Knife", which is a fair describtion.

CTOS Classic: Lena Philipsson – I Believe In Miracles (2000)
Lena Phlipsson has done a bloody amazing job hosting this year’s Melodifestivalen, and I’m really going to miss her after the finale tomorrow. Apparently she’s going to do a song where she’ll make fun of all the participants, which probably will be hilarious. This is a song she recorded as a soundtrack for a movie which in English was called “Life is a schlager” (yes – we even have
movies about Melodifestivalen). It’s a great pop song which in a perfect world would’ve been huge.

BWO – Temple Of Love Yesterday’s Melodifestivalen was a bit of a disaster, wasn’t it? The Jessica’s were robbed! Well at least the supreme BWO went through to the finale with the absolute pop stomper ‘Temple Of Love’. It seems like the BWO’s new sound is a bit more euro-trash and 90’s-influed, which is a good thing. We simply can’t wait for the video! And the remixes! And the new album! Out of all the songs that has made it to the finale this far, this is our favourite, so BWO FOR VICTORY!
Bimbo Boy – Drama Queen
If you’ve read Catchy Tunes of Sweden from the very beginning, way back when we did the ‘A-Z’-thingy, you might remember this guy who was featured with the poptastic song ‘Earthquake’. Well since I first wrote about him he’s landed a record deal, and this is his debut single! I love Bimbo Boy for several reasons. Before he got signed he used to put pictures of himself sucking bananas taken with his webcam on his website, he has songs about how good he is at giving blowjobs and making Marilyn Monroe in heaven proud, he has a blog in which he reveals things about his sex life and he used to be my neighbour on Last FM which proves he has quite good taste in music. ‘Drama Queen’ is the campest song you’ve heard this year. Even camper than Queentastic on Melodi Grand Prix. Seriously! Have you ever heard of any gayer artist, like ever!? (Or at least since Alexander Bard used to be Barbie back in the 80’s.)
CTOS Classic: Camilla Brinck – Heaven (2001) Ballads and mid-tempos are a bit of a rarity in my posts, so here is one of the loveliest songs from the past decade. It’s a simple acoustic pop song with a killer chorus, and it sounds like something off the Alexis Strum-album. You might recognize Camilla from competing in Melodifestivalen last year with the song ‘Jenny’.
